The cut line is found by color — magenta or red, or plain black on a page with nothing else stroked. Dashed and green lines are read as creases, dashed blue as perforations. Art and die can be on the same page, or the artwork can be added as its own PDF afterwards.

One extra mark near the lead corner, so the pattern is not symmetrical and a sheet fed the wrong way round is caught

The cutter’s locator finds black circles or crosses from 3 to 20 mm — 6 mm and 10 mm circles are recommended — placed round the pieces, 4.3 to 40 cm apart. Marks go round the sheet edge, outside the cutting area, with 3 mm clear of the pieces.

QR job recall — DPC Connect reads the QR and opens the cut file with that name

7–10 mm, best in the same corner on every job. Left blank, the QR reads the name the cut file is saved under (without .pdf) — keep that name, and keep the cut files together in the folder the QR profile in DPC Connect points at. The cut file comes out with cut, crease, perf and reg marks layers for assigning tools; add “reg marks” in DPC Connect under Settings → Standard settings → Import.

Job name

The cut file carries every rule as a named spot color — CutContour, Crease, Perf — with the sheet edge in DieInfo. The DXF is in millimetres with one layer per operation, for a die maker or a cutter that imports CAD.
