Overview
Door Hanger Creator builds a door hanger as the die-cut card that gets printed, and hangs it on a door knob or a lever
handle in 3D. It is the Envelope Creator's window for door hangers: the same artwork slots, variable data, text boxes,
Spot UV and foil plates and templates. Open it from Home and pick a die on the start screen; Dies… in the
top bar brings the start screen back.
Dies, holes and sizes
| Die | What it is |
| Round hole with slit | The everyday hanger: a round hole with a slit running up and out to the edge, so the card opens over a knob without tearing |
| Round hole | No slit — flexed over a knob or slid onto a lever; the strongest hole |
| Open-side hook | The hole opens to the side through a channel, so it hooks over a lever without bending the card |
| Keyhole | A round hole with a narrow slot below it that the card drops into |
| Arch top / House top | A curved or a peaked roof-line top over the hole |
| Tear-off coupon | A perforation across the bottom for a coupon or reply card |
| Oval hole / Rounded slot | A wide hole that clears a lever more easily, or a slot that also hangs on a rail or a mirror |
- Sizes: 3 1/2 × 8 1/2 (the usual), 3 1/2 × 11, 3 2/3 × 8 1/2, 4 × 9, 4 × 10, 4 1/4 × 11, 4 1/4 × 14, 4 1/2 × 12, 5 1/2 × 8 1/2, 99 × 210, 100 × 210, 105 × 297 and A5 — or any size typed in.
- Hole cutout: any die's hole can be swapped for another. Hole size offers the die-maker's sizes, 1″ to 2″ (1 1/4″ on a 3 1/2″ hanger, 1 3/8″ on 4″–4 1/4″, 1 1/2″ wider), or type a width. Below the top is the card above the hole. An oval or slot has its own height; a hook or keyhole its channel width.
- Slit: none, up and out to the side, straight out, or straight up, opening to the right or the left. It is cut 1 mm past the edge so the die cuts clean through.
- Top: square, rounded corners (with a radius), arch or peaked, with the rise above the shoulders.
- Checks warn when the hole is too small for a door knob's 3/4″ shank, leaves under 3/8″ of card beside or above it, runs off a curved top, or the perforation runs too close to the hole.
Flat and on the door
- Flat — front and Flat — back: the printed faces with the cut in red and the perforation dashed in green. The back is shown as it prints, turned over left to right.
- 3D: the hanger on a door, the top of its hole resting on the handle's neck — a round knob or a lever. Front, Back and Turn over turn it round on the handle; untick On a door to see it on its own.
- Artwork: front and back, each a PDF or an image the size of the whole hanger plus bleed (the hole is cut out of it); a logo under the hole and company details at the foot; a name or address from a data file and text boxes, as in the Envelope Creator.
Gilder, the Imposer and saving
- Gilder (top bar, the Spot UV & foil card and Output) opens the hanger in Gilder with its Spot UV and foil marked, to see them catch the light and write the embellisher's files.
- View in 3D opens it in the 3D Viewer, cut out round its die line.
- Impose › sends the print file — front and back, the die line in CutContour and Perf, the finishes as overprinting spot colours, one hanger per record with a data file — to the Imposer, which makes the press sheets and the cutter's marks.
- Print PDF: page 1 the front, page 2 the back. Dieline PDF: CutContour for the outline, hole and slit, and Perf (dashed) for a tear-off.
- Templates are kept on this PC and exported as
.iqhanger files. Showcase samples: a lawn-care offer with a tear-off, a Just Listed house top with foil and Spot UV, a hotel Do Not Disturb keyhole and a pizzeria hook with its menu on the back.
