ImposeIQ 3D Viewer guide

Projects, the side panels for finishes, folds, camera and lighting, and exporting the view.

Overview

The 3D Viewer keeps a gallery of print projects and shows each one the way the customer will hold it. Folding cartons and presentation folders fold up from their dieline, cards stand with their edges, and every foil, hologram, spot UV, varnish and emboss catches the light of a studio room. Open it from Home, drop a PDF on it, or open one of the samples: a presentation folder, a business card and Package Studio's four cartons.

The Presentation Folder, Business Card and Envelope Creators and Gilder each have a View in 3D button. It sends the job as it is on screen, with its dieline and finishes, and it opens here as a new project.

The side panels

The icons down the right edge open the panels; click the open one again to hide it. The letter keys do the same.

  • Layers & Design (L). The print, then one layer for each finish found in the file. Spot inks and PDF layers are read by name, the way Gilder reads them: Gold Foil, Silver, HoloPrism, Spot UV, Emboss, Deboss and so on. Each layer has a Material (print, 15 foils, 4 holograms, spot UV, raised UV, matte varnish, soft-touch, white ink, blind), a Micro/Nano texture (brushed, linen, diamond plate, carbon, hammered, sparkle dots, pinstripe) and Embossing (emboss or deboss, with its height). Under them are the board, the laminate, and which lines are the cut and the creases.
  • Shape (S). Automatic folds a file with creases and shows anything else as a card. Fold, Card and Flat sheet choose for you. Board caliper sets the card's thickness and how far stacked flaps sit apart.
  • Folds (D). Every fold edge, lettered A, B, C… on the model too, with its angle. All folds every edge together, the same as the bar at the bottom left. Click a panel on the model to pick its edge, then use Fold other way, Put outside or Make base.
  • Camera (C). Front, ¾, side, back and top views, yaw, pitch, distance and lens. Set to current view makes this the view the project opens on.
  • Lighting Environment (E). Studio softboxes, shop shelf, gallery strips, dimmed warm light and a daylight window, with rotation, exposure, the key light and the floor shadow.

Moving round and saving

  • Drag to turn, right-drag to move, use the wheel to zoom and double-click to reframe. Space folds or unfolds.
  • The buttons at the bottom right are, in order: save a PNG, full screen (F), turntable (T) and hide the panel (H).
  • Save video records the job folding up and then turning slowly in the light (WebM). Without a licence for the Embellishment Studio, saved pictures and video are marked DEMO.
